Description: Eight years after the events of the first film, Norman Nordstrom, a blind Navy SEAL veteran, lives with 11-year-old Phoenix and his Rottweiler, Shadow, in a Detroit suburb. Norman informs Phoenix that her birth mother died in a fire at their old residence. Hernandez, Norman’s sole connection to society and a former Army Ranger, persuades him to let Phoenix accompany her on errands to provide some time outside the house.
During the outing, a biker attempts to abduct Phoenix but is thwarted by Shadow. However, the biker’s gang tracks Hernandez’s van back to Norman’s home. After Hernandez drops off Phoenix and leaves, the gang kills her and lures Shadow away, ultimately killing him as well. When Norman searches for Shadow outside, the gang breaks in to kidnap Phoenix. A confrontation follows, during which the gang leader, Raylan, reveals that he is Phoenix’s real father, supported by their shared streak of white hair.
It is later uncovered that Phoenix’s childhood home burned down due to a meth lab explosion, and Raylan had been imprisoned for eight years. Norman had discovered Phoenix unconscious in the wreckage and took her in, replacing his deceased daughter. After his release, Raylan saw Phoenix alive when she visited her mother’s memorial. The gang chloroforms Phoenix, and Raylan sets his dog on Norman, who traps the animal in the attic. The gang sets the house on fire and escapes with Phoenix. Norman, aided by the dog, locates the gang’s hideout at a hotel.
At the hotel, Raylan reveals Phoenix’s real name is Tara and introduces her to her mother, who is alive but terminally ill.
