**Storyline:**
Jon Martello, a young Italian American, embodies the modern-day Don Juan. He works as a bartender in New Jersey and has a clear set of priorities: his body, his apartment, his car, his family, his church, his friends, his romantic partners, and his pornography. Despite his active sex life, Jon finds greater satisfaction in watching porn and masturbating, which he claims allows him to “lose himself.”
One night, while out with his best friends Bobby and Danny, Jon meets Barbara Sugarman, a woman from a more affluent background. Although intrigued by Jon, she declines his offer for a one-night stand. Jon later finds her on Facebook and invites her to lunch. The two feel a mutual attraction, but Barbara insists on a long-term courtship, which progresses for over a month without intimacy. She encourages Jon to take night classes to transition from the service industry to an office job, and Jon indulges her love for romantic films, despite dismissing them as unrealistic. They eventually meet each other’s families, and Jon’s parents adore Barbara.
When they finally have sex, Jon remains unsatisfied. While he loves Barbara and admires her body, he still prefers pornography. One night, Barbara catches him watching porn and is deeply shocked. Jon denies it, claiming it was a joke sent by a friend, and their relationship continues.
Jon begins watching porn outside his apartment to hide his habit from Barbara. However, he is caught again, this time by Esther, a middle-aged woman he had previously encountered crying alone.
