Description: Dolly’s Palanquin, also known as Dolly Ki Doli, is a 2015 Indian comedy-drama film directed by Abhishek Dogra in his debut and produced by Arbaaz Khan under his production company, Arbaaz Khan Productions. The movie features Sonam Kapoor in the lead role, supported by Pulkit Samrat, Rajkummar Rao, and Varun Sharma. It was released on January 23, 2015, with its trailer unveiled in December 2014. The film is a remake of the 2013 Punjabi movie R.S.V.P. – Ronde Saare Vyah Picho.
Although the film performed moderately at the box office, Sonam Kapoor’s acting received acclaim, earning her a Best Actress nomination at the 61st Filmfare Awards. The story revolves around Dolly (Sonam Kapoor), a cunning con artist who marries wealthy men from various religions and flees with their assets on the wedding night. Assisted by her family of fellow fraudsters, Dolly successfully deceives several men until her actions draw media attention, dubbing her the “bride thief.”
A determined police officer, Robin Singh (Pulkit Samrat), sets out to capture Dolly. Her plan unravels when she attempts to trick Manjot (Varun Sharma) from Delhi, leading to her photos being widely circulated in the media. Later, Robin arrests Dolly and her gang while they try to swindle Prince Aditya Singh (Saif Ali Khan). The plot thickens as it’s revealed that Robin and Dolly share a history. With Robin’s help, Dolly escapes custody, and they marry. However, she abandons him, reunites with her gang, and sets out to find her next target.
The film explores themes of deception, love, and the consequences of a life built on fraud.
