**Storyline:**
Mitch Weaver (Norm Macdonald) and Sam McKenna (Artie Lange) grew up learning from Sam’s tough father, “Pops” McKenna (Jack Warden), to never let anyone take advantage of them. This lesson led them to plant guns in a bully’s desk, resulting in his arrest, and to expose a crossing guard’s inappropriate behavior by gluing Mitch’s pants to a bench.
As adults, after losing multiple jobs and being dumped by his girlfriend, Mitch moves in with Sam and Pops. When Pops suffers a heart attack, he reveals a shocking truth: due to their parents’ unconventional lifestyle, he is also Mitch’s father. To save Pops, who needs a heart transplant, Dr. Farthing (Chevy Chase), a gambler in debt, demands $50,000 to move Pops up the transplant list.
Mitch and Sam take jobs at a cinema with an abusive manager (Don Rickles) and exact revenge by sabotaging a screening, leading to the manager’s firing. Inspired by their success, they start a revenge-for-hire business called “Dirty Work.” Their services gain popularity, and they take on increasingly lucrative jobs. Mitch also develops a romantic interest in Kathy (Traylor Howard), who works for a deceitful used car dealer (David Koechner).
Their biggest challenge arises when they cross paths with Travis Cole (Christopher McDonald), a corrupt property developer. Cole manipulates them into vandalizing an apartment building, falsely claiming he owns it and promising them the money to save Pops. After the act, Cole reneges on his promise, revealing his plan to buy the building cheaply, evict the tenants, and build a parking lot for his opera house. Unbeknownst to Cole, Mitch records his confession, setting the stage for a final showdown.
