Description: Dirty Dancing is a classic 1987 film that tells a captivating story set in the summer of 1963. Frances “Baby” Houseman, along with her parents Jake and Marjorie and her older sister Lisa, spends their vacation at Kellerman’s, an upscale resort in the Catskills owned by Jake’s friend, Max. One evening, Baby accidentally discovers Max instructing the resort’s waiters, all Ivy League students, to charm the daughters of the guests, regardless of their appearance. Max also belittles the working-class entertainment staff, including Johnny Castle, a talented dance instructor.
Baby is immediately drawn to Johnny and shares a brief dance with him after being introduced by his cousin, Billy, at a secret staff party featuring “dirty dancing.” Later, Baby learns that Johnny’s dance partner, Penny, is pregnant due to Robbie, a womanizing waiter who attends Yale School of Medicine and has now moved his attention to Lisa. When Robbie refuses to take responsibility, Baby secretly borrows money from her father to help Penny get an abortion. Initially hesitant, Penny agrees when Baby offers to step in as her replacement in an upcoming performance at a nearby resort.
As Baby trains with Johnny, the two develop a strong connection despite their failure to execute a crucial dance lift during the performance. Meanwhile, Penny suffers complications from the abortion, and Baby turns to her father, a doctor, to save her. Dr. Houseman, furious at Baby’s deception and assuming Johnny is the father, forbids her from associating with them. Defying her father, Baby apologizes to Johnny, who feels unworthy of her due to his lower social status. Baby reassures him of his value and confesses her love, leading to a secret relationship that further strains her bond with her father.
