Description: On Christmas Eve 1990, two years after the Nakatomi Tower incident, former NYPD officer John McClane, now with the LAPD, waits at Dulles International Airport for his wife Holly to arrive from Los Angeles. Reporter Richard Thornburg, who once exposed Holly’s identity to Hans Gruber, is seated nearby. In the airport bar, McClane notices two suspicious men in Army uniforms and follows them into the baggage area. A shootout ensues, leaving one man dead and the other fleeing. McClane discovers the deceased, Oswald Cochrane, was presumed killed in action in Honduras. Despite sharing his concerns with airport police captain Carmine Lorenzo, McClane is dismissed.
Meanwhile, former U.S. Army Special Forces Colonel William Stuart and his team set up a base near Dulles. They hack into air traffic control systems, disrupt communications, and disable runway lights, leaving planes unable to land. Their objective is to free General Ramon Esperanza, a drug lord and dictator of Val Verde, who is being extradited to the U.S. Stuart demands a Boeing 747 cargo plane for their escape. With his wife aboard one of the stranded planes low on fuel, McClane teams up with a janitor named Marvin to stop the terrorists.
As Dulles communications director Leslie Barnes and a SWAT team attempt to restore communications, they are ambushed, resulting in casualties. McClane saves Barnes and eliminates Stuart’s men. In retaliation, Stuart crashes a British jetliner, killing all aboard. A U.S. Army Special Forces unit led by Major Grant is deployed. McClane intercepts a radio transmission revealing Esperanza’s plane is landing after he killed his captors. McClane must act swiftly to thwart the terrorists and save the day.
