Description: The story of “Despicable Me” begins with news of an Egyptian pyramid being stolen. Gru, a super-villain voiced by Steve Carell, feels his pride wounded and decides to outdo this by planning the ultimate heist: stealing the Moon. To fund this ambitious plan, Gru approaches the Bank of Evil (formerly Lehman Brothers) for a loan. During his visit, he encounters a younger super-villain named Vector, voiced by Jason Segel, who irritates him. The bank’s president, Mr. Perkins, played by Will Arnett, denies Gru the loan until he secures a shrink ray essential for his scheme. Mr. Perkins hints that Gru is aging, while newer villains like Vector, who stole the Pyramid of Giza, are rising.
Gru and his minions successfully steal the shrink ray from a top-secret research facility in East Asia, but Vector intercepts it, shrinking Gru’s ship in the process. Despite multiple failed attempts to infiltrate Vector’s lair, Gru notices three orphaned girls—Margo, Edith, and Agnes—who manage to enter the lair to sell cookies. Seeing an opportunity, Gru adopts the girls from Miss Hattie, the orphanage head, intending to use them to retrieve the shrink ray. With the help of his assistant, Dr. Nefario, Gru creates cookie-shaped robots, which the girls sell to Vector. These robots assist Gru in reclaiming the shrink ray.
On their way home, the girls convince Gru to take them to an amusement park. Initially planning to abandon them there, Gru is instead forced to join them on a roller coaster. Surprisingly, he ends up enjoying the experience, marking a turning point in his relationship with the girls.
