**Storyline:**
During Mardi Gras in New Orleans, the ferry Senator Alvin T. Stumpf, carrying hundreds of U.S. Navy sailors and their families across the Mississippi River, suddenly explodes and sinks, resulting in the death of 543 passengers and crew members.
Special Agent Douglas Carlin (Denzel Washington) from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) is assigned to investigate the incident. He discovers evidence of a bomb planted by a domestic terrorist. At the scene, he collaborates with local investigators and FBI Special Agent Paul Pryzwarra (Val Kilmer). During the investigation, a partially burned body, identified as Claire Kuchever (Paula Patton), is recovered from the river. Surprisingly, her death was reported to authorities minutes before the explosion.
Impressed by Doug’s investigative skills, Pryzwarra invites him to join a newly formed government detective unit tasked with probing the bombing. The team, led by Dr. Alexander Denny (Adam Goldberg), utilizes a program called “Snow White,” which allows them to observe past events in detail. The system, powered by satellite triangulation, can only view events once, without the ability to rewind or fast-forward, though recordings can be made.
Doug believes Claire is a crucial link to uncovering the bomber. While observing her past through “Snow White,” the team discovers that the bomber contacted Claire about an SUV she had advertised for sale. Despite not purchasing the vehicle, the call allows the team to trace his location within seven hours. Doug later learns that “Snow White” is more than just a surveillance tool—it can also send inanimate objects back in time.
