Description: In the 2018 film *Death Race: Beyond Anarchy*, a privatized security firm oversees a massive prison called the Sprawl, which houses around 420,000 inmates. The infamous Death Race, a brutal competition where inmates battle in heavily armed modified vehicles, has been outlawed by the new warden appointed by Weyland International, the prison’s owner. The warden is tasked with eliminating Frankenstein, the reigning Death Race champion and de facto ruler of the prison.
The story begins with Frankenstein surviving an assassination attempt by a prison SWAT team during an afterparty. After slaughtering the attackers with the help of his loyal followers, Frankenstein sends a chilling warning to the warden through a body camera, vowing to kill anyone sent after him. Frustrated by the failure, the warden is reprimanded by a Weyland executive and given one final chance to eliminate Frankenstein.
Meanwhile, new prisoners arrive at the Sprawl and are given silver coins to navigate the harsh prison life. Upon landing, they are attacked by “the Cops,” a gang led by Death Racer Johnny Law. Most of the newcomers are killed, but two manage to fight off the gang with remarkable skill. The male survivor, Connor, is taken in by a group of women after they witness his combat abilities. He seeks out Baltimore Bob, a figure rumored to control the Death Races, and is led to a bar owned by Frankenstein. There, Johnny Law faces execution for failing to seize the coins from the new arrivals. Connor defeats two of Frankenstein’s enforcers, leading to a direct confrontation with the champion himself.
The film explores themes of survival, power struggles, and rebellion within the chaotic and violent world of the Sprawl.
