Description: “Dear Zindagi” is a Hindi film that tells the story of Kaira, a talented cinematographer in Mumbai and Goa who aspires to direct her own films. Known for her blunt and cynical nature, Kaira finds comfort in the company of her three closest friends, Fatima, Jackie, and Ganju. Her life takes a turn when Raghuvendra, a film producer she left her childhood sweetheart for, gets engaged to someone else. Adding to her troubles, her landlord evicts her because the building only allows married couples to rent apartments. Dissatisfied with her career and personal life, Kaira decides to move to Goa, where she reluctantly stays with her parents, with whom she has unresolved issues. Her struggles lead to sleepless nights filled with unhappiness and uncertainty.
In Goa, Kaira attends a Mental Health Awareness Conference and hears Dr. Jehangir “Jug” Khan speak. Intrigued by his unconventional methods, she seeks his help for her insomnia. Over time, she begins to open up to Jug’s therapy, using it to better understand herself. During this period, she meets a musician named Rumi and falls in love, but their relationship ends when Kaira realizes they aren’t compatible. Meanwhile, she reconnects with her younger brother, Kiddo, the only other person she feels close to besides her friends. Family tensions escalate during a gathering, where Kaira confronts her parents about abandoning her during her childhood.
Through her sessions with Jug, Kaira learns to confront her fear of abandonment. He helps her understand that she doesn’t need to forgive her parents but should see them as flawed individuals capable of mistakes. This realization marks a turning point in Kaira’s journey toward self-discovery and emotional healing.
