Description: Dazed and Confused is a 1993 film set on May 28, 1976, the final day of school at Lee High School in Austin, Texas. The seniors are gearing up for their annual tradition of hazing the incoming freshmen. Randall “Pink” Floyd, the school’s star football player, is pressured to sign a pledge promising to avoid drugs and any behavior that might hinder the team’s championship goals. When classes end, the freshman boys are hunted down and paddled by the seniors, while the freshman girls are smeared with condiments and forced to propose to senior boys.
Mitch Kramer, a freshman, initially escapes the hazing but is later caught after a baseball game and severely paddled by Fred O’Bannion, a repeat senior who takes pleasure in the ritual. Pink, feeling sympathetic, offers Mitch a ride home and invites him to join his friends for a night out. However, their plans are disrupted when Kevin Pickford’s parents discover his intention to host a keg party.
Meanwhile, Cynthia Dunn, Tony Olson, and Mike Newhouse, a group of intellectual students, decide to join the evening’s activities. Pink and his older friend, David Wooderson, pick up Mitch and head to the Emporium, a popular pool hall among teenagers. As the night unfolds, the group hangs out at the Emporium, listens to rock music, cruises around the neighborhood, and stops at a drive-in hamburger spot. Mitch bonds with Julie Simms, a sophomore, and experiences drinking beer and smoking marijuana for the first time while cruising with Pink and his friends.
