The story begins with Sergeant Yan (played by Liu Kai Chi), an ambitious but clumsy police officer, investigating a gruesome homicide in a small town. An entire family has been brutally murdered, and Yan believes solving the case will advance his career. His investigation leads him to the prime suspect, Sau (Linda Cheung), who shares her tragic story through a series of flashbacks.
Sau and her husband, Ken (Ben Ng), were deeply in love but struggled to conceive a child after Ken became incapable of sex due to an accident. Desperate to start a family, the couple enlists the help of Kun (Dick Lau), a kind-hearted man, to impregnate Sau. This arrangement, conducted with Ken’s reluctant consent, spirals out of control when Sau and Kun begin an affair. Their secret is discovered by the unsettling Hung (William Ho), who blackmails them and takes Sau hostage. Hung subjects her to unimaginable abuse, setting the stage for Sau’s eventual path of vengeance.
