Description: “Date Night” (2010) is a comedy film that follows the story of Phil and Claire Foster, a married couple from New Jersey played by Steve Carell and Tina Fey. Their lives have become monotonous, with a predictable routine and a lackluster romantic relationship. Phil works as a tax lawyer, while Claire is a realtor. However, they decide to reignite their passion after discovering that their close friends, Brad and Haley (Mark Ruffalo and Kristen Wiig), are divorcing to break free from the boredom of married life.
To escape their usual “date night” routine, Phil plans a unique evening by taking Claire to a trendy restaurant in Manhattan. Unable to secure a table, they impulsively take a reservation meant for another couple, the Tripplehorns. While dining, they are mistaken for the Tripplehorns by two men, Collins (Common) and Armstrong (Jimmi Simpson), who accuse them of stealing a flash drive from a mobster named Joe Miletto (Ray Liotta). Threatened at gunpoint, Phil and Claire lie about the flash drive’s location, sending their pursuers to Central Park’s boathouse.
At the boathouse, Claire fakes a search while Phil attacks the men with a paddle, allowing them to escape on a boat. Seeking help, they visit a police station and speak with Detective Arroyo (Taraji P. Henson), only to discover that Collins and Armstrong are corrupt detectives working for Miletto. Realizing they cannot rely on the police, Phil and Claire decide to find the real Tripplehorns to clear their names. Returning to the restaurant, they obtain the Tripplehorns’ phone number.
Claire recalls a former client, Holbrooke Grant (Mark Wahlberg), a security expert with a James Bond-like persona. At Grant’s apartment, he traces the Tripplehorns’ phone signal to an apartment owned by Thomas Felton. When Collins and Armstrong arrive, Phil and Claire manage to escape in Grant’s Audi R8, continuing their chaotic adventure to solve the mystery and save their marriage.
