Description: FBI agent Jake Malloy is on the hunt for a serial killer who targets police officers. His pursuit takes a personal turn when his former partner becomes a victim. At the crime scene, the killer contacts Malloy from his own home, revealing a vendetta tied to a past case involving the murders of prostitutes. Driven by revenge, the killer takes the life of Malloy’s girlfriend, Mary. Malloy tracks the killer down, only to discover what appears to be his suicide.
Three months later, Malloy spirals into alcoholism after the traumatic events. Following a suicide attempt, his best friend and supervising officer, Agent Chuck Hendricks, enrolls him in a rehabilitation program for law enforcement officers. The program is led by Dr. John “Doc” Mitchell, a former cop and recovering alcoholic. Hendricks stays nearby in Wyoming to ensure Malloy’s well-being.
At the clinic, Malloy encounters other officers undergoing treatment, including Peter Noah, a paranoid ex-SWAT officer; Frank Slater, a cynical British policeman; Willie Jones, a religious homicide detective; Jaworski, a narcotics cop who attempted suicide; Lopez, a foul-mouthed LAPD officer; and McKenzie, an elderly Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer who witnessed his partner’s murder. Malloy also meets the clinic’s staff, including Hank, Doc’s assistant, and Jenny Munroe, a compassionate nurse and psychiatrist, with whom he forms a connection.
As a blizzard isolates the rehab center, communication with the outside world is cut off. Jenny discovers the body of Connor, a troubled patient whose death appears to be a suicide, though she suspects foul play. The next day, Hank finds another apparent suicide, but Malloy doubts the circumstances. Doc locks up the patients for safety while reviewing their files. Jenny informs Doc that Jack Bennett, a missing orderly and former patient, may be involved.
When Doc is killed by an axe-wielding assailant, suspicion falls on Jack, though Malloy and Jenny remain unconvinced. Malloy arms the surviving officers to defend themselves. Meanwhile, Hendricks discovers the body of a dead cop in a frozen lake and returns to the clinic with the owner of a nearby fishing shop. The group must now unravel the mystery of the killer’s identity and survive the deadly storm.
