Description: “Cuttputlli” (meaning “Puppet”) is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language psychological crime thriller, directed by Ranjit M. Tewari and produced by Pooja Entertainment. A remake of the 2018 Tamil film “Ratsasan,” it features Akshay Kumar, Rakul Preet Singh, Chandrachur Singh, and Sargun Mehta in pivotal roles. Initially titled “Mission Cindrella,” the film was officially renamed in August 2022. It is set to release on Disney+ Hotstar on September 2, 2022.
The story follows a gripping crime thriller narrative, with Akshay Kumar portraying a police officer. Supporting him is Sargun Mehta, who marks her Bollywood debut with this project. Mehta, known for her work in television and Punjabi cinema, expressed her excitement about collaborating with Kumar and being part of a meaningful role.
The film’s production began in August 2021 in the United Kingdom, with additional shooting in Mussoorie and Dehradun early in 2022. The decision to release directly on an OTT platform highlights its focus on reaching a broader audience. Inspired by “Ratsasan,” “Cuttputlli” promises to deliver intense and compelling storytelling, showcasing Kumar in a dynamic character and Mehta in her much-anticipated Bollywood debut.
