Despite her love for Pierre, Marie marries Henri to fulfill her father’s wishes and secure a better social standing. Heartbroken, Pierre leaves for Algeria, where he meets Zohar, and the two bond over their shared interest in erotic photography.
Two years later, Pierre returns to Paris with Zohar and reunites with Marie, who admits her enduring love for him. Their affair unfolds against the backdrop of Paris’s underground erotic photography scene, challenging societal norms. Their lives become entangled in a delicate balance of secrecy and passion, ultimately cementing their legacy as prominent literary figures of 19th-century France.
