Description: Cujo (1983) Movie Synopsis
Cujo, a gentle St. Bernard, contracts rabies after being bitten by a bat while chasing a rabbit. The Trenton family—Vic, Donna, and their young son Tad—visit Joe Camber, a mechanic, to fix their car. They encounter Cujo, the Camber family’s pet, and initially bond with him. Donna notices Cujo’s injury but dismisses it.
As Vic struggles with a failing advertising campaign, their marriage faces strain when Donna’s affair with her high school ex-boyfriend, Steve Kemp, comes to light. Meanwhile, Cujo begins showing early signs of rabies, such as sensitivity to noise and aggression, though no one recognizes the severity.
When Joe’s wife, Charity, and son, Brett, leave to visit relatives, Cujo’s condition worsens. He kills the Cambers’ neighbor, Gary Pervier, and later attacks Joe when he investigates Gary’s death.
Vic leaves for a business trip, while Donna and Tad return to the Camber property for additional car repairs. Cujo attacks them, forcing them to seek refuge in their Ford Pinto. When the car breaks down, they are trapped inside, battling the heat and dehydration. Donna must find a way to save herself and Tad before it’s too late.
