**Storyline:**
In a luxurious New York City mansion, Kathryn Merteuil, a wealthy and popular teenager, assures Mrs. Caldwell that she will take care of her naive daughter, Cecile, at their prestigious prep school. When Kathryn’s stepbrother, Sebastian Valmont, enters, Mrs. Caldwell reacts coldly and leaves with Cecile. Kathryn later reveals to Sebastian her plan to use Cecile to get revenge on her ex-lover, Court Reynolds, who left her for Cecile. She urges Sebastian to seduce Cecile to ruin her reputation in Court’s eyes. Sebastian refuses, as he has set his sights on Annette Hargrove, the headmaster’s daughter and an advocate for chastity until marriage.
The two strike a deal: if Sebastian fails to seduce Annette, Kathryn gets his vintage Jaguar XK140; if he succeeds, Kathryn agrees to sleep with him, even hinting at the possibility of anal sex, as she is the only girl Sebastian has not conquered.
Sebastian’s initial attempt to seduce Annette fails when she reveals she is aware of his notorious reputation. Initially, he suspects Greg, Annette’s closeted football player friend, of warning her. Sebastian manipulates Cecile by luring her to his house with a fake letter from Ronald. He gets her drunk and coerces her into allowing him to perform oral sex on her.
