Description: Cross Connection 2 (2015) is a film that largely revisits nostalgic moments from its predecessor without introducing significant depth or evolution in its characters or storyline. The movie is somewhat confusing and may not be worth your time. It revolves around two couples—Akaash and Imon, Vicky and Riya—who find themselves at different crossroads in life. While Akaash is focused on marriage, Imon dreams of becoming a renowned choreographer. Vicky is consumed by basic survival needs—food, shelter, and clothing—and Riya yearns to start a family. The film explores what transpires when their lives intersect.
Akaash is deeply attached to his phone, Imon shares a profound connection with dance, Riya is absorbed in her thoughts (and possibly hand cream), and Vicky is obsessed with his laptop. Even Akaash’s friend Swarajit has his own quirky relationship—with bananas, which he has been devouring since 2009, when the first Cross Connection film debuted.
When the leads aren’t fixated on their primary passions or gadgets, their relationships take center stage. Akaash persistently pressures Imon to marry him, while she responds with verbal outbursts. Riya constantly nags Vicky about having a baby, leaving him utterly exhausted. With no meaningful connections in sight, the filmmakers attempt to revive the past by reintroducing old characters and rehashing iconic scenes from the original movie.
Akaash still waits under the verandah and walks aimlessly in the rain, searching for a phone signal. Swarajit continues to drop everything to rush home for personal needs. Imon dances whenever the mood strikes, and Vicky, despite his busy schedule, still takes her to coffee shops. Even Jams (Neel Mukherjee) and Didi (Rupanjana) seem perpetually in transit, always on their way to the airport. The reason behind revisiting these moments remains unclear, leaving the audience disconnected and uninterested.
