Description: “Cosmic Sin” (2021) is a chaotic and disappointing film that fails to live up to its potential. The script is inconsistent, with the plot constantly shifting and lacking any clear direction. The storytelling feels disjointed, and the director struggles to handle even the simplest elements, whether it’s action sequences, dramatic moments, or emotional scenes.
The film squanders its intriguing premise. Instead of delivering a thrilling, low-budget version of something akin to “Predator” with shape-shifting aliens hunting soldiers on a distant planet, it devolves into endless conversations where characters talk about taking action rather than actually doing anything.
The actors are underutilized to an almost comical extent. Frank Grillo, who is prominently billed, vanishes for much of the film after the first 45 minutes, and his later appearances feel hastily pieced together. Bruce Willis, known for his minimal effort in direct-to-DVD projects, delivers an especially lackluster performance here, not even bothering with his trademark smirk.
While the characters are somewhat defined, there are far too many of them, and the script fails to establish meaningful interactions. As a result, attempts at emotional moments fall flat, with heroic sacrifices and unexpected deaths barely registering with the audience.
Overall, “Cosmic Sin” is a missed opportunity, leaving viewers frustrated by its wasted potential and poor execution.
