Description: In the latter stages of World War II, a group of American soldiers from the 2nd Infantry Division embarks on a routine mission near Elsenborn in the Belgian Ardennes. As the Germans seem close to defeat, the squad is caught off guard by a powerful German tank destroyer and infantry force. After a fierce battle, the Americans narrowly escape and attempt to return to their lines to report the unexpected German offensive. Along the way, they discover a German experimental site, still ablaze from a catastrophic event.
They encounter a severely burned American OSS agent who reveals that the Germans are on the verge of developing a superweapon capable of turning the tide of the war. Knowing his time is limited, the agent entrusts the soldiers with his mission: locate the bomb, disable it, and extract the scientist working on it, who wishes to defect. With their leaders killed, the responsibility falls on Nate Burrows Jr., a young soldier, and Dean Ransom, a demoted lieutenant and former cook. Together, they venture deep into Nazi territory, joined by British airman Brent Willoughby and Red Army soldier Ivan Puzharsky.
Pursued by heavily armed German forces, the group faces multiple narrow escapes. Eventually, they connect with a woman named Kestrel, who leads them to the atomic bomb and the scientist, Dr. Luca Gruenewald. In a climactic finale, the squad escapes the Nazi facility as Allied bombers obliterate it. Ivan secures Gruenewald’s research documents, and the group, along with the doctor and Kestrel, safely reaches Allied territory. However, they are informed by their superiors that their mission must remain classified, and they will receive no recognition or rewards, ensuring the secrecy of the atomic bomb project.
