Description: Oliver, a young nonverbal autistic boy, communicates using his smartphone. He lives with struggles at school, where classmates bully him due to his condition. His parents, Sarah and Marty, face marital difficulties, leading to Marty moving out. One night, Oliver discovers an app called “Misunderstood Monsters,” which tells the story of Larry, a monster seeking friendship. After reading the story, strange occurrences begin, including lights flickering and a mysterious presence detected through his tablet’s camera.
At school, the bullying escalates as Oliver’s classmates trick him into a field and throw away his phone. Later, Sarah organizes a sleepover to help Oliver socialize, but the same bullies attend. They find and activate the app, summoning Larry, a skeletal creature visible only through the tablet. Larry attacks one of the boys, terrifying everyone, who then blames Oliver.
As days pass, Sarah starts experiencing the same eerie events. Larry communicates through the tablet, expressing his desire to take Oliver to his world. One night, while Marty is working as a parking lot attendant, Larry appears and begins chasing them. After witnessing Larry’s power, Marty finally believes Oliver and Sarah. They destroy the tablet, hoping to end the terror.
Meanwhile, one of the bullies, Byron, confesses the truth about the incident, clearing Oliver’s name. It’s revealed that Oliver and Byron were once close friends until an accident caused a rift between them. The two reconcile, rekindling their friendship and leaving the nightmare of Larry behind.
