Description: “Cobra” is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language psychological action thriller film written and directed by R. Ajay Gnanamuthu. Produced by S. S. Lalit Kumar under the banner 7 Screen Studio, the movie features Vikram in a dual role, alongside Irfan Pathan, Srinidhi Shetty, Roshan Mathew, K. S. Ravikumar, Anandaraj, Robo Shankar, Miya George, Mirnalini Ravi, Sarjano Khalid, and Meenakshi Govindarajan in supporting roles. The plot follows Interpol officer Aslan Yilmaz, who is assigned to track down a mysterious assassin known as Cobra. The assassin uses advanced mathematical skills to carry out his deadly missions, targeting high-profile individuals such as the Chief Minister of Odisha, the Mayor of France, and the Prince of Scotland. Teaming up with a young Tamil criminologist, Judith Samson, Aslan uncovers that Cobra is actually Madhiazhagan, a mathematics professor, who takes orders from his mentor, Nellaiappan, a senior journalist based in Kolkata.
The project, initially announced in May 2019 under the tentative title “Vikram 58,” faced significant delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, travel restrictions, and Vikram’s commitments to other projects. Filming spanned three years, with locations including Chennai, Kerala, Kolkata, and Russia. “Cobra” was eventually released on 31 August 2022, coinciding with Vinayaga Chathurthi, but received mixed to negative reviews from critics.
