Description: Carl Casper, a Miami-born chef, heads the kitchen at Gauloise in Brentwood, Los Angeles. Despite earning the admiration of his staff and hostess Molly, he constantly clashes with the restaurant’s owner, Riva, who insists on traditional dishes instead of Carl’s creative cuisine. Carl’s personal life is equally strained, with a distant relationship with his tech-savvy son Percy and his wealthy ex-wife, Inez.
When Carl gets the opportunity to impress renowned food critic Ramsey Michel, Riva forces him to stick to the classics, resulting in a negative review. Frustrated, Carl publicly lashes out at Ramsey on Twitter, unknowingly making his response public and gaining a massive online following. Determined to prove himself, Carl plans a new menu and invites Ramsey for a rematch but walks out after another argument with Riva.
Humiliated after a viral meltdown at the restaurant, Carl becomes unemployable. Accepting Inez’s invitation, he travels to Miami with her and Percy, rediscovering his passion for Cuban cuisine. Inspired, Carl restores a rundown food truck with Percy’s help, and his former line cook Martin joins him. Together, they embark on a cross-country journey, serving Cuban sandwiches and yuca fries. Percy’s social media promotions help them achieve success in cities like New Orleans and Austin, where they craft dishes using local ingredients. Along the way, Carl reconnects with his son and reignites his love for cooking.
