Description: In the year 2257, the inhabitants of the planet New World face a unique condition known as the Noise, which allows everyone to hear and see each other’s thoughts. After a devastating civil war with the native alien population, all the women were killed, but some men survived. Todd Hewitt, played by Tom Holland, lives in Prentisstown with his adoptive fathers, Ben and Cillian Boyd. The town is also home to the preacher Aaron, Mayor David Prentiss, and his son Davy.
One day, a spaceship from the First Colony approaches New World. A scout ship is sent to investigate but crashes. While working, Todd notices a thief and follows them, only to discover the wreckage of the scout ship. He returns to town but struggles to hide his thoughts about the crash, leading the other men to investigate the site. They tamper with the wreckage but find no survivors.
Later, Todd encounters Viola, the sole survivor of the crash. Shocked to see a girl for the first time, Todd helps her, but she is soon captured by the men of Prentisstown and taken to the mayor’s home. Mayor Prentiss explains the Noise phenomenon and the planet’s history to Viola. While Prentiss is away, Davy is tasked with watching her but accidentally activates one of her gadgets, allowing her to escape. Ben advises Todd to take Viola to a village called Farbranch, where she might find safety.
