Description: The film *Chaar Sahibzaade* (2014) begins with the Mughal Empire’s invasions of India. Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, sacrificed his life to protect the religious freedom of Kashmiri Pandits. In response to the ongoing invasions, Guru Gobind Singh established the Khalsa, emphasizing martyrdom as a core principle of defense.
The movie portrays significant historical events, including the Battle of Anandpur (1700), where Guru Gobind Singh defeated Mughal General Painde Khan. It also highlights the Battle of Chamkaur in December 1704, where 42 Sikh warriors, led by Guru Gobind Singh, courageously faced an army of one lakh Mughal soldiers commanded by Wazir Khan. In this battle, Guru Gobind Singh’s elder sons, Sahibzada Ajit Singh and Sahibzada Jujhar Singh, were martyred. Despite their numerical superiority, the Mughals failed to capture Guru Gobind Singh, leading to their ultimate defeat.
The film further depicts the tragic fate of Guru Gobind Singh’s younger sons, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh. They were captured and executed by Wazir Khan, who ordered their entombment within a city wall.
*Chaar Sahibzaade*, translated as *Four Princes*, is a 3D animated historical drama written and directed by Harry Baweja. It became a box office hit, earning the title of the highest-grossing animated film in Indian cinema at the time. However, its record was later surpassed by *Carry on Jatta 2* in July 2018.
