Description: In “Casper,” set in Friendship, Maine, the story follows Carrigan Crittenden, a neurotic and spoiled heiress who is left only Whipstaff Manor in her late father’s will, while his vast fortune is donated to charities. Discovering a map hinting at hidden treasure within the manor, Carrigan, along with her lawyer Dibs, sets out to claim it. However, the property is haunted by Casper, a friendly ghost, and his mischievous uncles, the Ghostly Trio. Despite employing paranormal experts and demolitions teams, Carrigan fails to rid the mansion of its spectral inhabitants.
Casper, feeling lonely, becomes enthralled by Kat Harvey, the teenage daughter of paranormal therapist James Harvey, after seeing her on a news report. He persuades Carrigan to summon James to Whipstaff. Once the Harveys arrive, Casper earns their trust by preparing breakfast for them. He follows Kat to school, where her classmates, intrigued by her living in a haunted house, invite her to host a Halloween party there. Amber, a jealous classmate, conspires with Kat’s crush, Vic, to embarrass her during the event.
Meanwhile, James attempts to counsel the Ghostly Trio, who evade his sessions but hint at knowing his late wife, Amelia. They promise to arrange a meeting with her if James convinces Carrigan to leave them alone. Through her interactions with Casper, Kat learns he has no memory of his past life. By restoring his old playroom in the attic, she helps him recall his childhood, including his death from pneumonia after catching a cold while playing outside. Casper became a ghost to stay with his father, who was later declared insane for building the Lazarus, a machine designed to revive the dead.
