Her adopted son, Prabhat Roy, is also the foster son of a wealthy businessman, Anadi Halder, who entrusts Ms. Roy with managing his household.
Halder’s two nephews, Nimai and Nitai, harbor resentment toward Prabhat due to inheritance disputes. Earlier, Halder had prevented Prabhat from marrying his love interest, a decision believed to have been influenced by Nimai and Nitai. Fearing for her son’s safety, Ms. Nanibala seeks Byomkesh’s help. The plot thickens when Anadi Halder is murdered, leading to a complex investigation with a shocking conclusion.
This film, based on Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s fictional detective character, is set against the backdrop of pre-Independence India and post-World War II. Directed by Anjan Dutt and produced by Kaustuv Ray, “Byomkesh Bakshi” premiered on August 13, 2010, and became the first installment in a successful trilogy. It also inspired several sequels, solidifying its place in Bengali cinema.
