Description: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is a 1969 film set in 1899 Wyoming. The story follows Butch Cassidy, the charming and clever leader of the Hole-in-the-Wall Gang, and his close friend, the sharp-shooting Sundance Kid. Upon returning to their hideout, Butch discovers that the gang has chosen Harvey Logan as their new leader due to Butch’s frequent absences. Harvey challenges Butch to a knife fight for control of the gang, but Butch outsmarts him and agrees to Harvey’s plan to rob the Union Pacific Overland Flyer train twice—once on its eastbound route and again on its westbound route, believing the second heist would yield even greater rewards.
The first robbery is a success. To celebrate, Butch visits a local brothel and watches as the town marshal fails to rally a posse. Meanwhile, Sundance spends time with his lover, Etta Place, a schoolteacher. The following morning, Butch joins them and takes Etta for a bike ride.
During the second train robbery, Butch uses excessive dynamite to blow open a larger safe, inadvertently destroying the baggage car. As the gang scrambles to collect the money, a second train arrives carrying a skilled team of lawmen. The duo is relentlessly pursued, and their attempts to escape, including hiding in the brothel and seeking amnesty from Sheriff Bledsoe, prove futile. The sheriff warns them their time is running out, leaving them with no choice but to flee.
