Description: “Burying the Ex” is a 2014 film that follows Max, a kind-hearted horror enthusiast played by Anton Yelchin, who is in a relationship with Evelyn, portrayed by Ashley Greene. Evelyn is a controlling yet beautiful environmentalist working for a blog that advocates eco-friendly living, while Max works at a local horror memorabilia store. Despite his efforts to keep Evelyn happy, including altering his lifestyle and selling his car, Max dreams of opening his own horror shop—a plan Evelyn disapproves of.
One day, while handling a shipment at the store, Max discovers a mysterious object called the Satan Genie, which supposedly grants wishes. Dismissing it as a novelty item, he stores it away. Later, Max and Evelyn share an intimate moment at the shop, pledging to stay together forever. Shortly after, Evelyn moves in with Max, and they celebrate by visiting a horror-themed ice cream shop run by Olivia, played by Alexandra Daddario. Evelyn becomes hostile toward Olivia, accusing her of flirting with Max. In a vulnerable moment, Evelyn confesses her fear of losing Max, as he is her only source of happiness since her mother’s passing.
However, tensions rise when Max returns home to find Evelyn has redecorated their apartment, disregarding his cherished collectibles. This sparks an argument, with Max asserting that decisions should be mutual. Realizing Evelyn’s controlling nature will make him unhappy, Max resolves to end the relationship but hesitates. Seeking advice from his carefree half-brother Travis, he plans a public breakup to expose Evelyn’s behavior. The plan takes a tragic turn when Evelyn is struck by a bus on her way to the meeting place, leaving Max devastated as she dies in his arms.
