Description: Bunty Aur Babli is a 2005 Hindi film. The story revolves around Rakesh Trivedi, played by Abhishek Bachchan, who hails from a small village called Fursatganj. His father, a railway ticket collector, expects him to follow in his footsteps, but Rakesh aspires for more, dreaming of grand business ventures and rejecting the idea of a conventional 9-to-5 job. Meanwhile, Vimmi Saluja, portrayed by Rani Mukerji, comes from another small village named Pankinagar. She dreams of becoming Miss India, inspired by watching films and studying supermodels, but her parents have arranged her marriage to a stable, working man.
Both Rakesh and Vimmi face pressure from their families—Rakesh is given an ultimatum to attend a job interview or leave home, while Vimmi is pushed toward marriage. Unwilling to conform, they leave their villages separately, only to meet at a train station. Realizing their shared struggles, they become friends and support each other’s dreams. Vimmi tries to enter the Miss India contest but is disqualified after an argument, while Rakesh’s business idea is stolen by a man he met earlier. When they discover the businessman profited from Rakesh’s idea, they decide to con him and take what they feel is rightfully theirs.
This marks the beginning of their journey as con artists. Adopting the alias “Bunty and Babli,” they execute a series of scams across India, impersonating local guides, religious priests, health inspectors, and business partners. Their bold and flamboyant schemes gain nationwide attention, and their friendship blossoms into romance. Eventually, they marry and continue their life of cons together, embracing the thrill of their newfound lifestyle.
