Description: “Bride Wars” is a 2009 comedy film that follows the story of Emma Allan and Olivia “Liv” Lerner, two childhood best friends who have dreamt of perfect weddings since witnessing a memorable ceremony at the Plaza Hotel 20 years ago. They both prioritize getting married at the same iconic location in June.
One day, while spending time at Liv’s apartment, they discover a Tiffany box hidden in the closet, hinting at an upcoming proposal from Liv’s boyfriend. That same night, Emma’s boyfriend proposes to her. Liv, growing impatient, confronts her boyfriend the next morning, and he proposes on the spot.
As both women begin planning their weddings, they expect to be each other’s maid of honor. They meet with New York’s renowned wedding planner, Marion St. Claire, who informs them there are three available dates at The Plaza in June: two on the same day and one a few weeks later. They initially choose different dates, but due to a clerical error, both are scheduled for June 6, leading to a conflict.
Attempting to resolve the issue, they ask another bride, Stacey, to switch her June 27 date with Emma, but she refuses. This escalates into a confrontation, resulting in Liv and Emma being escorted out of a store. As tension builds, it becomes clear neither is willing to compromise. Emma’s fiancé, Fletcher, begins to show controlling behavior, adding to the strain.
A misunderstanding over the announcement of wedding dates sparks a full-blown feud between the two friends. They exchange threats and insults at their shared bridal shower, leaving their friends unwilling to take sides. The film explores the humorous yet chaotic fallout of their rivalry.
