Description: The movie enthusiasts in Bangladesh were highly anticipating the theatrical release of the country’s first surfing film, *No Dorai (Dare to Surf)*. The film hit local theaters on Friday, despite facing some objections and edits from the censor board. A special premiere for the press and media personalities took place on Thursday evening. While expectations were high, the experience left many disappointed. The premiere itself was a glamorous event, attended by celebrities, media figures, government officials, and the film’s cast and crew, filling Star Cineplex at Bashundhara City shopping mall in Dhaka.
The screening was scheduled to start at 7 pm, but the film’s producer and Star Cineplex Chairman, Mahboob Rahman, addressed the audience at 7:45 pm, apologizing for the delay due to management issues. He spoke passionately about the effort behind *No Dorai*, crediting the team led by executive producer and renowned Bangladeshi musician Xefer Rahman for their dedication. Rahman shared that the film was inspired by the true story of Nasima, a girl who defied societal barriers in the conservative town of Cox’s Bazar to achieve her dream of becoming a surfer. He emphasized that the film aimed to promote women’s empowerment and usher in a new era for Bangladeshi cinema.
As the film began, the audience was mesmerized by the breathtaking visuals of Cox’s Bazar. Director Taneem Rahman and cinematographer Sumon Sarker showcased the world’s longest beach like never before, delivering some of the most spectacular visuals and vibrant colors seen in recent Bangladeshi films. Taneem Rahman, known for his editing and color grading expertise, ensured the film’s imagery stood out, making *No Dorai* a visual masterpiece.
