The story revolves around Joy, an aimless young man whose sole ambition is to own a bike to impress Nandini. His life takes a turn when he finally buys the bike and lands a job. However, trouble arises after his bike is stolen. Joy finds himself in conflict with Imran, the hot-tempered younger brother of the local mafia don Akram. While Akram refrains from harming innocent people, Imran is reckless. The plot follows Joy’s journey as he navigates this rivalry, striving to retrieve his bike and emerge unscathed.
“Borbaad” received mixed to negative reviews. Madhushree Ghosh of *The Times of India* rated the film 2.5 out of 5 stars, critiquing the lack of a strong plot and describing it as a dull love story with elements of South Indian-style violence. She also criticized the lead actors’ performances, calling them emotionless and lacking charisma, though she praised Sudip Mukherjee’s portrayal of a Muslim mafia don. Shoma A. Chatterji of *The Indian Express* commended the action scenes’ editing and cinematography but found the romantic leads’ performances underwhelming. Despite these critiques, the film was a box-office success.
