Description: Divorced Lauren Reynolds has a disastrous blind date with widower Jim Friedman at Hooters. Later, they cross paths again at a pharmacy, where their credit cards are accidentally swapped. Jim visits Lauren’s home to return the cards and learns that Lauren’s friend, Jen, has broken up with her boyfriend, Dick, who happens to be Jim’s boss. Jen and Dick had already paid for a trip to Africa, and Lauren decides to use Jen’s portion of the vacation package, unaware that Jim plans to use Dick’s portion as well. To their surprise, the hotel accommodations are reserved for a romantic suite.
The two families end up on a “blended familymoon” in Africa, where they encounter other couples, including the overly affectionate Eddy and Ginger, whose significant age difference causes tension with Eddy’s teenage son, Jake. Jim’s eldest daughter, Hilary, develops an immediate crush on Jake, while Jim and Lauren’s children struggle to connect due to their awkward personalities.
As the trip progresses, Jim bonds with the boys through adventurous activities, while Lauren helps Hilary transform her tomboyish appearance into a more feminine one, eventually leading to a romantic connection between Jake and Hilary. Meanwhile, Jim and Lauren grow closer, sharing lighthearted moments like a couples’ massage. Lauren also comforts Jim’s youngest daughter, Lou, by singing “Over the Rainbow,” unknowingly performing the same lullaby Lou’s late mother used to sing.
Through their experiences, the families gradually form deeper bonds, with Jim and Lauren warming up to each other and finding unexpected happiness during their unconventional trip.
