**Storyline:**
In the year 2049, bioengineered humans, referred to as replicants, are enslaved. K, a Nexus-9 replicant identified by his serial number KD6-3.7, serves as a blade runner for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). His primary duty is to hunt down and eliminate rogue replicants. During a mission at a protein farm, K retires Sapper Morton and discovers a box buried beneath a tree. The box contains the remains of a deceased female replicant who died during a cesarean section, revealing that replicants can reproduce biologically—a phenomenon previously deemed impossible.
K’s superior, Lieutenant Joshi, is alarmed by this discovery, fearing it could ignite a war between humans and replicants. She orders K to track down and eliminate the replicant child to suppress the truth. K’s investigation leads him to the Wallace Corporation, the successor to the Tyrell Corporation, which specializes in replicant manufacturing. Through DNA archives, the deceased female is identified as Rachael, an experimental replicant designed by Dr. Eldon Tyrell.
K uncovers Rachael’s romantic connection to former blade runner Rick Deckard. Meanwhile, Wallace Corporation CEO Niander Wallace is determined to unlock the secret of replicant reproduction to advance interstellar colonization. He deploys his replicant enforcer, Luv, to steal Rachael’s remains and trail K in pursuit of Rachael’s child.
At Morton’s farm, K finds the date 6-10-21 carved into a tree trunk, which triggers a childhood memory involving a wooden toy horse. Since replicants typically have artificial memories, K’s holographic AI companion, Joi, suggests that this memory might indicate K was born rather than manufactured. Delving into LAPD archives, K discovers twins born on that date with matching DNA, except for the sex chromosome. Only the boy is recorded as alive.
K’s search leads him to an orphanage in the ruins of San Diego. Although records from the relevant year are missing, K recognizes the orphanage from his memories and locates the hidden toy horse, reinforcing his belief in his origins.
