Description: In 2019 Los Angeles, former police officer Rick Deckard is taken by Officer Gaff to meet his former supervisor, Bryant. Deckard, who once worked as a “blade runner” tasked with tracking and retiring bioengineered humanoids called replicants, learns that four replicants are illegally on Earth. As Deckard attempts to leave, Bryant subtly threatens him, forcing him to stay. The two then watch a video of a blade runner named Holden administering the Voight-Kampff test, designed to identify replicants through their emotional responses. During the test, the subject, Leon, shoots Holden. Bryant orders Deckard to retire Leon and three other Nexus-6 replicants: Roy Batty, Zhora, and Pris.
Bryant arranges for Deckard to meet Eldon Tyrell, CEO of the company that creates replicants, to test the Voight-Kampff method on a Nexus-6 model. Tyrell, curious about the test’s failure, asks Deckard to administer it on his assistant, Rachael. After an extended test, Deckard determines that Rachael is a replicant who believes she is human. Tyrell explains that she is an experiment implanted with false memories to provide an “emotional cushion.”
Later, Deckard searches Leon’s hotel room, discovering photos and a synthetic snake scale. Meanwhile, Roy and Leon investigate a replicant eye-manufacturing lab and uncover information about J. F. Sebastian, a skilled genetic designer associated with Tyrell. Deckard returns to his apartment to find Rachael waiting. She attempts to prove her humanity by showing him a family photo, but Deckard reveals her memories are implants from Tyrell’s niece, causing her to leave in distress. At the same time, Pris locates Sebastian and manipulates him to gain his trust.
