Description: “Biskoth” is a 2020 Indian Tamil-language parody comedy film inspired by the American movie “Bedtime Stories.” Written, produced, and directed by R. Kannan under the banner Masala Pix, the film stars Santhanam and Tara Alisha Berry in lead roles, with Sowcar Janaki, Anandaraj, Motta Rajendran, and Aadukalam Naren in supporting roles. The music was composed by Radhan, while cinematography and editing were handled by Shanmuga Sundaram and RK Selva, respectively. The film was released in Indian theaters on November 14, 2020.
The story follows Raja (Santhanam), the son of a small-time biscuit maker, Dharmarajan (Aadukalam Naren), who dreams of turning his business into a major brand under Raja’s leadership. After Dharmarajan’s death, his friend Narasimhan (Anandaraj) takes over the business, and Raja becomes a worker in the same company. Raja forms a bond with Janaki (Sowcar Janaki), a resident of a nursing home who enjoys telling stories. Raja soon discovers that the tales she narrates begin to influence his real life. The film explores how these stories shape Raja’s aspirations and future.
Principal photography began in September 2019 during Ganesh Chaturthi, with shooting locations in Chennai and Hyderabad. However, post-production was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and resumed after the government’s announcement on May 11, 2020. Following its theatrical release, “Biskoth” became available on OTT platforms—first on Simply South on November 26, 2020, and later on ZEE Plex in early December 2020.
“Biskoth” marked the first Tamil film to be released in theaters after the prolonged COVID-19 lockdown in India.
