Description: “Birds Like Us” is a 2017 animated adventure film, marking the first full-length computer-animated feature from Bosnia, directed by Faruk Šabanović and Amela Ćuhara. The story, inspired by Attar of Nishapur’s poem *The Conference of the Birds*, follows Huppu, a bird voiced by Alicia Vikander, who dreams of freedom to hatch her own egg. However, she is trapped in a village controlled by the overbearing Kondor, played by Jeremy Irons.
When Huppu, Kondor, and their friends are unexpectedly transported to a distant land, they must rely on a wise and eccentric bat to guide them on a mesmerizing journey back to their home tree. The film explores themes of freedom, survival, and resilience, set against a visually stunning backdrop.
The flightless birds in the village endure a grim pact: to ensure their safety within the protective hollow of a massive tree, they must sacrifice their eggs to the tyrannical vultures led by Kondor. This exchange grants them the fruit needed to survive, but at a heartbreaking cost.
Featuring an impressive voice cast including Jeremy Irons, Alicia Vikander, and Jim Broadbent, *Birds Like Us* is a family-friendly adventure that combines humor, emotion, and a visually captivating narrative.
