Description: “BIR” is a 2020 Bangladeshi political action-drama film, written and directed by Kazi Hayat. Co-produced by Shakib Khan and Mohammad Iqbal under SK Films, it stars Shakib Khan, Shabnom Bubly, and Misha Sawdagor in leading roles. Celebrating director Kazi Hayat’s 50th film milestone, “BIR” was released on Valentine’s Day. The project was a significant investment, with a high budget allocated to ensure quality. Shakib Khan expressed optimism about the film’s success and audience reception.
The film’s production faced several challenges. Originally set to begin shooting on January 10, 2019, it was delayed due to director Kazi Hayat’s illness. Filming officially commenced on July 15 at Shruti Studio in Dhaka, followed by scenes at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC). The first phase focused on childhood scenes of Shakib Khan’s character, Antu, and his friend, Miran.
After a break of nearly one and a half months for Shakib Khan to prepare his character’s look, filming resumed in November 2019 in Pubail, Dhaka. The second phase included Shabnom Bubly and Misha Sawdagor alongside Shakib Khan. Climactic and action scenes were filmed in early December. However, production was halted again when Shakib Khan was hospitalized on December 25 due to health issues. The film was finally completed with patchwork on January 26, 2020.
“BIR” stands as a testament to Kazi Hayat’s enduring career in filmmaking and the dedication of its cast and crew.
