Description: Bilal: A New Breed of Hero (2015) is an animated film that tells a powerful story of resilience and courage. Bilal, a young boy, lives a peaceful life with his mother and sister on the outskirts of a village. However, their lives take a tragic turn when Byzantine soldiers invade, enslave them, and kill his mother.
As a child, Bilal is sold into slavery to Umayyah, one of the wealthiest and most influential leaders of the Quraysh in Mecca. While performing his duties, Bilal encounters various characters, including Okba, another Quraysh leader who convinces people to purchase idols, and a deceptive masked priest who exploits their faith for personal gain.
Bilal’s strength and moral character shine through as he stands up for his sister, Ghufaira, protecting her from the bullying of Umayyah’s son, Safwan. This act of bravery earns him a brutal punishment but also highlights his unwavering spirit. Over time, Bilal forms a bond with a white horse and befriends Saad, a skilled archer. His compassion is further evident when he helps a hungry boy, earning the admiration of Abu Bakr, a man who believes in equality and sees great potential in Bilal.
Despite his doubts about a future where slaves are treated fairly, Bilal’s journey inspires hope and determination, making him a true hero. The film beautifully portrays themes of justice, perseverance, and the fight for freedom.
