Description: Constable Bhosale retires from the Mumbai Police and moves into a rundown chawl, a small apartment block typically occupied by factory workers. He occasionally visits his former supervisor to discuss the possibility of extending his service. The story unfolds during the ten-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival, where an idol is being prepared for celebration.
Vilas, a homeless taxi driver, works as a loyal supporter of a local political party that promotes regional cultural identity. He frequently accuses migrants from North India of stealing local jobs and clashes with Rajendra, a leader of the migrant community. Vilas rallies influential locals to strengthen their cultural identity, but Bhosale, though respected, chooses not to join his cause.
Next to Bhosale’s home, Sita and her teenage brother Lalu move in. Lalu refuses to join Rajendra’s gang but is tricked one night into vandalizing a billboard belonging to Vilas’s political party. The next day, Vilas is furious, and Lalu, frightened, confesses to Sita. They inform Bhosale, who warns them that he will report the incident to the police if it happens again.
During the grand Ganesh Chaturthi procession involving the entire chawl, Bhosale collapses due to declining health. Lalu gathers neighbors to take him to the hospital where Sita works, and she diligently nurses him back to health. She also handles his discharge paperwork, securing a discount by presenting him as a family member. Bhosale grows close to the siblings and secretly helps Lalu repaint the billboard.
Sita receives Bhosale’s medical test results and informs him of his terminal brain tumor. Meanwhile, Vilas, noticing the repainted billboard, takes credit for the work. Bhosale exposes Vilas’s deceit, leaving him humiliated for siding with the migrants instead of his own community. The story highlights Bhosale’s quiet resilience and his growing bond with Sita and Lalu amidst societal tensions.
