Description: Bharat Ram, a bright and ambitious student, earns his fifth degree from Oxford. During a celebration, he learns from his uncle that his father, Raghava Rao, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (before division), has passed away from a stroke. Bharat returns home, reminiscing about his childhood. As a boy, he spent most of his time with his mother and his best friend Subash, as his father was preoccupied with establishing a political party alongside his close associate, Varadarajulu, the party president. After failing to keep a small promise, his mother reprimands him, emphasizing the importance of keeping commitments. She passes away in her sleep shortly after, leaving a profound impact on Bharat. Raghava Rao takes on his care but is advised by Varadarajulu to remarry in preparation for upcoming elections. Raghava Rao remarries and has another son, Siddharth, but Bharat struggles to bond with his stepmother and spends more time at Subash’s house. Eventually, Subash’s family moves to London, and Bharat decides to go with them after some persuasion.
Upon returning to India as an adult, Bharat attends his father’s funeral, which is surrounded by media speculation about the next Chief Minister. Varadarajulu explains that Raghava Rao’s asthma worsened due to the cold, leading to his hospitalization. Siddharth performed the final rites as the public unrest caused by Raghava Rao’s death left no time to wait for Bharat. Frustrated by the chaotic atmosphere in the city, Bharat is introduced to various politicians, including opposition leader Sripathi Rao and his son Manohar.
