**Storyline:**
Mohit Chadha, played by Ayushmann Khurrana, is promoted from Junior Executive to Senior Executive in Marketing. He celebrates this achievement by having lunch with his girlfriend, Mayera, portrayed by Sonam Kapoor, and proposes to her. However, Mayera’s father, V.K. Sehgal, played by Rishi Kapoor, a government officer nearing retirement, disapproves of their marriage. He believes Mohit cannot provide for Mayera or ensure her happiness.
To test Mohit, V.K. challenges him to prove himself by calling him daily to play squash. Meanwhile, V.K. retires from his job, and Mohit faces his own struggles when he is laid off from his company. To avoid V.K.’s disapproval, Mohit, Mayera, and a friend pretend he is still employed. V.K. eventually discovers Mohit’s criminal inquiries but is impressed by Mohit’s idea for post-retirement work.
Mohit struggles to find a new job, while V.K. secretly seeks employment after retirement, against Mayera’s wishes. Mohit’s financial troubles worsen, and he borrows money from Mayera. When he later asks her for more money for his apartment, they argue, leading to their breakup. Mohit sells his car to repay her and moves into a smaller place, taking up a job at a café.
Meanwhile, Mayera decides to accept a job transfer to Dubai and informs her father of her plans. The story unfolds as the characters navigate their personal and professional challenges, highlighting themes of love, independence, and self-discovery.
