Description: Bereavement, a 2010 film, follows the harrowing story of Martin Bristol, a young boy with congenital analgesia, who is abducted by a disturbed and grieving serial killer named Graham Sutter. Graham takes Martin to an abandoned slaughterhouse, where he inflicts a cut on the boy’s cheek and mercilessly slaughters a captured young woman in front of him. Despite Martin’s attempts to escape, Graham captures him and keeps him imprisoned in the slaughterhouse, along with a series of female victims he kidnaps over the years.
For five years, Graham continues his brutal killings, forcing Martin to witness the gruesome acts. Graham, who struggles with guilt over killing the cattle he once cared for, appears to hallucinate, engaging in conversations with bull skulls mounted on the walls, treating them as divine beings. It is suggested that Graham suffered abuse at the hands of his father, whom he later murdered and hid in the attic.
The story also focuses on Allison Miller, a young girl who moves to the town of Minnersville to live with her relatives after the death of her parents. While jogging, Allison notices Martin in the window of the abandoned slaughterhouse. She befriends a local boy named William, and their relationship begins to develop. One evening, her uncle Jonathan intervenes when Allison and William are about to become intimate.
The next day, Allison returns to the farmhouse after spotting Martin again and is captured by Graham. When she fails to return home, Jonathan searches for her but is fatally shot by Graham. William, also searching for Allison, finds her locked in a cold storage room. He attempts to rescue her but is killed by Graham. Meanwhile, Graham grows increasingly fearful of Martin due to his inability to feel pain and pins his hand to a table with a knife to prevent his escape. Allison manages to free herself by lifting the lock with a metal rod and rescues Martin by removing the knife before escaping the farmhouse with him.
