The story revolves around Biswanath Majumdar, a 75-year-old man in the publishing business, and his wife, Arati, who is 66. However, the seemingly perfect family faces internal struggles. Barin’s wife, Sharmistha, is dissatisfied with her husband’s financial situation, while Malasree is involved in an extramarital affair, considering her husband, Sujoy, inadequate. Kaberi suspects her husband, Jyotirmoy, of being untrustworthy due to his drinking habits, and Piu feels neglected by her filmmaker husband, Palash, who is rarely around.
Everything comes to a head during Vijayadashami when Biswanath announces his decision to divorce Arati, leaving the family shocked and confused. Despite their efforts, the children fail to uncover the reason behind their father’s decision, while Arati remains indifferent. Biswanath files for divorce, but the judge suggests a 15-day vacation together before making a final decision. The family retreats to their Santiniketan residence, where Barin and his brothers-in-law secretly install CCTV cameras in their parents’ room to uncover the truth.
As Biswanath and Arati reflect on their long marriage, they share their grievances, disappointments, and moments of joy. Despite their emotional distance over the years, they realize they still care deeply for each other. This realization starkly contrasts with their children’s modern, unstable relationships, highlighting the enduring strength of their bond.
