**Storyline:**
I want to start by acknowledging that I am a devoted fan of WWE and unapologetically love ‘sports entertainment.’ However, I will approach this review with objectivity, treating it like any other film, even though it stars the charismatic Mr. Kennedy.

*Behind Enemy Lines: Colombia* (2009) is the third installment in the war film series and the second to premiere directly on DVD. I must admit, the second film has been on my shelf for years as part of a box set with the first one, and I still haven’t watched it. Perhaps after seeing the third, I’ll find the time.

A brief history of wrestlers in films sets the stage for Kennedy’s debut. While wrestlers have appeared in movies over the years (e.g., Hulk Hogan in *Rocky III*), it was Roddy Piper who demonstrated that wrestlers could carry a film. John Carpenter’s *They Live* is one of his best, and Piper excelled in his role. Piper also starred in a series of low-budget action films, notably the bizarre *Hell Comes to Frogtown*, which is so unconventional that it’s brilliant.

WWE first ventured into films with *No Holds Barred*, co-produced with New Line Cinema. It featured Hogan as a wrestler who clashes with an evil TV producer. The film was widely panned, but it launched Hogan’s successful TV and film career. Personally, I enjoy *Suburban Commando* for its humor and Hogan’s chemistry with Christopher Lloyd.

Rivals WCW also produced *Ready to Rumble*, featuring various WCW wrestlers and David Arquette. It was poorly received and best forgotten.

*Behind Enemy Lines: Colombia* continues the series with its own unique take on the war film genre.
