Description: During the Bosnian War, U.S. Navy flight officer Lieutenant Chris Burnett and pilot Lieutenant Jeremy Stackhouse are stationed on the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson in the Adriatic Sea. Burnett plans to leave the Navy and frequently clashes with his commanding officer, Admiral Leslie Reigart. On Christmas, Reigart assigns Burnett and Stackhouse to an aerial reconnaissance mission. While flying, they notice unusual activity in the demilitarized zone. Burnett convinces Stackhouse to deviate from their course for a closer look, unaware they are capturing images of Serb Volunteer Guard soldiers burying massacred Bosniak civilians in mass graves.
The Bosnian Serb paramilitary commander, General Miroslav Lokar, is secretly conducting a genocidal campaign against the Bosniak population. Discovering the reconnaissance jet, Lokar orders it to be shot down. As Burnett and Stackhouse attempt to evade surface-to-air missiles, their jet is hit, forcing them to eject. Lokar’s men locate the injured Stackhouse, who is executed by Sasha Ivanic, one of Lokar’s trusted subordinates. Burnett, witnessing the event, escapes into the wilderness. Lokar commands his deputy, Colonel Bazda, and Sasha to pursue him.
Burnett radios for help, and Reigart provides an extraction point. However, Admiral Piquet, the NATO naval forces commander in the region, warns Reigart that rescuing Burnett in the demilitarized zone could jeopardize the peace process. Reaching the extraction point, Burnett is instructed to move to another location outside the demilitarized zone to be rescued.
