**Storyline:**
The film *Beckman* begins with an ill-timed and insensitive remark suggesting that California wildfires act as a “cleansing” force targeting the state, but this is as controversial as the movie gets. For the most part, *Beckman* is a bland and uninspired imitation of numerous superior thrillers from the past decade, even down to featuring a hacker character reminiscent of *The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo* (played by Anna Zielinski, who also serves as a producer). It’s a curious choice for a studio known for Christian-themed content to produce a film that barely delivers any religious message, aside from warning against cults led by members of the Baldwin family.
The film’s themes are inconsistent and contradictory, with moral arguments clashing at every turn. The protagonist, Beckman, struggles between seeking violent retribution against those who defy divine law and the notion that violence solves nothing. These opposing ideas are poorly developed and fail to provide any meaningful resolution. The so-called “Christian” subtext is hollow, as neither perspective prevails, leaving the audience without a clear moral takeaway.
Despite impassioned speeches condemning violence, Beckman largely ignores them, resorting to killing indiscriminately—often before obtaining crucial information. The only person he spares is ironically the one he should eliminate.
Without emotional depth or a coherent moral compass, *Beckman* descends into a series of unconvincing fight scenes and shootouts, making the film a tedious and unengaging experience.
