Description: Bareilly Ki Barfi is a 2017 Hindi film that tells the story of Bitti Mishra, a spirited girl from Bareilly who often finds herself at odds with societal expectations. After yet another failed arranged marriage attempt, Bitti runs away from home. While waiting for a train, she picks up a novel titled *Bareilly Ki Barfi* and is stunned to discover that the protagonist, Barfi, seems to mirror her own life. Inspired, she returns home determined to find the author, Pritam Vidrohi, whose name appears on the back cover. Bitti believes that if someone could write so passionately about a character like her, perhaps they could also love her for who she is.
Her search leads her to Chirag Dubey, who owns a printing press where the book was published. Chirag claims that Vidrohi no longer resides in town but offers to act as a messenger, delivering Bitti’s letters to the author and bringing back his responses. Unbeknownst to Bitti, Chirag is the actual author of the book. He had written it five years earlier under a pseudonym after his former girlfriend, Babli, married someone else. Intrigued by the similarities between Bitti and Babli, Chirag sees an opportunity to explore a second chance at love.
As Bitti and Chirag grow closer, she remains eager to meet Vidrohi, whose letters continue to captivate her. To maintain the charade, Chirag arranges for her to meet the real Pritam Vidrohi, a friend who had left town years ago. Initially taken aback by Vidrohi’s rough demeanor—a facade orchestrated by Chirag—Bitti eventually warms up to him, seeing him as a misunderstood soul much like herself. The story unfolds with humor, heart, and a twist of fate, blending love, identity, and self-discovery.
